Jen's Journal Do you remember the anticipation of senior year of high school or senior year of college... that feeling when you were just ready for something new and exciting? I see all these Freshman with their faces of fear, amazement and extcitement for the next 4 or 5 or 6... years. I want that excitement back. James has one year left of school and it is quite something to have that anticipation of something new coming our way...but it is so far away! Even if we stay in the Philly area and I don't get a new job, at least something will change in our lives... I am just just so ready to move on with whatever the future brings us... I Anyway I am still working at Lehigh and freelancing when I can and driving too much..... I got my first Lighting Design job in New York! It is a for a show called "Home Again" It is the genre of gay play :) I am very excited. It opens on May 14 at the Abingdon Theatre Complex in the bigger space! More details to come... It is truly amazing how well a person can still know you after lets say 6 years... His name is James. I met him on jdate...yeah I know...I am a dork...but hey it works. He is really wonderful and makes me happy. He lives in Philly so it going to be yet another one of those see each other once a week but is all good. Anyway is that enough information ? :) Wow, I like nice Jewish boys... It is amazing how your boyfriend can turn you into a feminist You know that feeling when you just can't tell if you made the worst or the best decision in your life. And the worst part is that you have no idea how you will feel in a week or a month. Then you play that I regret this game and the maybe we should really be together game and the what the fuck am I supposed to do game. Or the maybe I was overeacting or jumping to conclusions...you know the question yourself and everything game. Greek Life is like high school; a bunch of groups competing to see who is the coolest. So I am working on ACDFA right now as the assitant lighting designer/ASM...and this what I have learned so far: 1. Dancers don't understand tech 2. They may be wicked skinny but I can use tools 3. Female dancers and actors on tech crew who are competent still don't understand why us techies are so mean 4. It is hard to cue a show when the choreographer says yeah I just want it grey and blue 5. Dancers and choreographers don't get that 15 min for tech means only 15 min 6. If you don't want your dancers who are wearing white, and red, or purple and red to clash with the lights then make sure they are in costume for tech rather then black! 7. Techies get 3 meals and money and volunteer dancers get to take classes 8. Techies like meat for dinner not roasted veggie sandwhiches 9. Dancers are really good at not hitting the side booms 10. It is fun and sucks at the same time Yeah that is my story. Ok so Patriots won Super Bowl! which is kind of cool since I have never watched it before. And my boyfriend loves me...hehee...good day :) |
